ETL and VDE on one grill listing: what a buyer should notice
Our 4-slice contact grill listing names CE, CB and ETL directly and carries a detachable VDE plug. Both details change what you can do with the product after you order it.

Direct answer
One of our published grill listings — a 4-slice digital contact grill, 2000 W, FOB $21.50 at MOQ 1,000 pieces — states CE, CB and ETL on the listing itself, and carries a detachable VDE plug.
That combination is unusual at this price point. ETL is the mark North American retail channels ask for, and a detachable plug is what lets one certified unit be sold into more than one market without retesting the appliance.
The published figures
Our published grill and baking listings
| Model | Published specification | FOB | MOQ | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4-Slice Digital Contact Grill | 2000 W, 4 slices, detachable VDE plug | $21.50 | 1,000 pieces | CE, CB, ETL |
| Panini Press Sandwich Maker | 4-slice toaster, opens 180°, 3-in-1 electric grill, 9 auto modes | $17.35 – 19.00 | 1,000 pieces | Not stated |
| 4-Slice Stand-Up Waffle Maker | Square deep Belgian waffle | $8.80 – 9.70 | 2,000 pieces | CE, RoHS |
Marks are shown exactly as the listing states them. Where a listing names none, the row says so.

What ETL actually is
ETL is a North American product safety mark issued by Intertek. It is not a European mark and it does not replace CE — it satisfies the electrical safety requirements that US and Canadian retailers and insurers ask for.
The practical reason it matters: a buyer shipping into North America with only a CE file will be asked for an ETL or equivalent listing by their retail customer. Getting it after the product is already packaged means a new test file and new marks on the artwork, which puts the launch date at risk. Having it named on the listing before you order is worth a great deal.
Why a detachable plug is a bigger deal than it looks
A fixed cord means the plug configuration is part of the appliance's identity. Changing it for a different market means the cord set is no longer the one in the test file, which can invalidate the certification and force a re-test.
A detachable plug separates the cord from the appliance. The VDE certified cord is the part that changes per market, and the appliance body that was tested stays the tested one. That is why the same unit can go to a German buyer with a CEE plug and a US buyer with a NEMA plug without a new test file.
This is the difference between a supplier who happens to hold a CE file and one who has actually thought about multi-market distribution. It is not visible in a price comparison.
What 2000 W means for the buyer
2,000 W is above the 1,800–1,900 W ceiling that most European and North American domestic circuits handle comfortably at 230 V without a dedicated line. At 120 V it draws roughly twice the current for the same power, which is where a 15 A circuit becomes the limit rather than the wattage.
For a retailer this is a specification that belongs on the product page, not buried in a manual. For a hospitality buyer it is usually a non-issue because commercial kitchens have their own circuits.
What to ask before ordering
Ask for the certificate documents against the specific model and voltage build, and ask whether the cord set is part of the certified configuration or supplied separately. The second question is the one that determines whether you can reconfigure for another market.
Certification is model-specific. A mark on a listing tells you the document exists; it does not tell you it covers your configuration. The full list we hold is on the compliance page.
The MOQ worth flagging
The waffle maker carries MOQ 2,000 pieces, which is the largest minimum order we publish. If you came here for a single waffle maker, that is the number to know before spending time on it.
