Sourcing spare parts and accessories

Direct answer
This page answers one of the decisions a buyer has to make before an appliance programme can be specified. The useful framing throughout is that most sourcing mistakes are sequencing mistakes: the decision that looks small — destination market, architecture, usable capacity — is expensive to reverse after tooling, artwork or certification has started. The range behind these decisions is 7 categories and 22 models, with 3 primary product lines.
- Figures here are normal production values, not guaranteed limits for every order
- Where a value depends on the destination market, the rule is linked rather than asserted generally
- MOQ and lead time are quoted per model, not as a single site-wide number
Choosing a supplier for spare parts and accessories
Fit guarantee is the technical argument. Attach-rate is the commercial one. Both matter, and only one is usually discussed.
Spare parts are where small appliance programmes quietly fail. A unit fails in a market where the buyer is not present, there is no part, and a cross-border return shipment costs more than the product did. The fix is not operational — it is a design decision made at the start of the programme.
Why fit has to be guaranteed, not described as compatible
The distinction is not pedantic; it is where return volume comes from.
The minimum viable parts list
One page per model. This is the difference between a distributor who can service the product and one who cannot.
| Part | Failure frequency | Why | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power cord set | High | The most common failure, and the most obvious | Varies by destination market — this is the item most often ordered wrong |
| Plug | High | Varies by destination market | Not interchangeable between markets |
| Basket | High | Food-contact, wear, and the size buyers misjudge | Also the highest attach-rate accessory |
| Grate / tray | High | Food-contact, wear | Usually sold with the basket |
| Seal / gasket | Medium | Heat and wear | Cheap, and its absence causes leakage complaints |
| Control board | Medium | Electronics failure | Expensive, so worth holding one or two rather than stocking deep |
| Heating element | Low | Long-life failure | Rarely held in stock; ordered on demand |
| Knobs, panels, buttons | Low | Cosmetic or user damage | Worth including for completeness on a broad programme |
Variant structure: the part of this that gets missed
A parts list without variant data produces stock that does not fit.
| Variant axis | Impact | What differs | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Voltage build | High | Cord, plug and sometimes the control board differ between 110 V and 220 V builds | The parts list must state which build each part covers |
| Model | High | Basket and grate differ by capacity within one platform | A 5 L basket does not fit a 6.5 L unit |
| Production revision | Medium | A component change can alter a control board | Traceability matters here — hence batch traceability |
| Destination market | Medium | Cord, plug and labelling | Not a part difference, but it is a stocking decision |
Attach-rate is the commercial argument
Parts are not an after-sales cost centre. They are the highest-margin line in most programmes, and they are planned or they are not.
| Accessory | Attach potential | Why | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basket and grate set | High | Replacement plus upsell on capacity change | The buyer who outgrows a 5 L unit is already an accessory buyer |
| Care and parts kit | High | A single bundled SKU | Easier to reorder than six part numbers, which is why it sells better |
| Non-stick liner set | Medium | Consumable, repeatable purchase | Consumables create the repeat-order habit that parts alone do not |
| Spare cord set | Medium | Insurance against the most common failure | Cheap enough that a distributor will hold it once they understand the failure rate |
How parts should be designed into the programme
Six moves, in the order they should happen.
Define the list during design
Before the first article, not after the first warranty claim. At design stage the part is either already specified or is a one-line addition.
Carry the variant structure
Each part number states the model and build it covers, so a distributor cannot order the wrong one.
Include accessories in the programme
Branded accessories are part of the offer. Adding them after launch means every accessory sale is lost or serviced under someone else's brand.
Agree attach-rate as an objective
A target attach rate turns parts from a support cost into a commercial line.
Publish the list with the shipment
A parts list that arrives with the goods is a list that gets stocked.
Hold batch traceability
So a field issue can be traced to a production window and answered with the right part.
Spare-parts questions
Do you supply spare parts separately from the machines?
Yes, quoted per model and per part, for the models we build. Fit is guaranteed, which is the reason to buy them from the manufacturer.
Do you supply parts for models you did not build?
No. Parts are supplied for the Anbo United range because the fit is guaranteed. We do not represent third-party parts as compatible.
Which parts should a distributor hold?
Cord set, plug, basket, grate and seal per model, with control boards held sparely. The full list is issued with the goods.
Can you supply accessories under our brand?
Yes. Branded accessories and consumables are part of a private-label programme rather than a later addition.
How do we handle a cord set that does not fit?
It usually means the voltage build or destination market was not specified on the order. That is why the parts list carries the variant data.
Is there a minimum order for spare parts?
Parts are quoted per model and per part. A parts order can often be smaller than a machine order, which is deliberate — it makes initial stocking practical.
What about parts for discontinued models?
Availability for a defined period after discontinuation, which should be agreed at the point of discontinuation rather than afterwards.
Get the parts list for the models you run
Send the models and destination markets — you get back the parts list with the variant structure, so nothing gets ordered that does not fit.
